Among the other issues that have plagued the London Olympics organisers in the past weeks, this whimsical incident takes place: during the women’s football (soccer) match in Glasgow between North Korea and Colombia, some official mistakenly displays the South Korean flag on the big screen instead. Perhaps not so whimsical to the people on the wrong end of it, I acknowledge, and especially since the two Koreas are still officially at war.

And then US Presidential election candidate, Mitt Romney, walks right into it on his visit to London with several high profile gaffes, which London mayor Boris Johnson manages to capitalise on in front of a crowd of 60,000.

It would be funny (and nice) if London were actually galvanised to pull off the event flawlessly, though with this clanger, and a few more hours to go, I’m still holding my breath!

Mercury is very close to its station retrograde in Gemini, only hours away. This period is also known as the ‘storm’. A planet in station is supposed to hold its energy in concentration.

Mercury retrograde in Gemini suggests that communications may be delayed or slowed, or ideas reviewed. In addition, words may be misunderstood, speech misheard, intentions misread.

While I don’t believe that planetary transits ’cause’ anything to happen, I sometimes wonder whether the energies offer up the conditions under which you will be compelled to review your actions.

As the comment stream on the previous post indicates, the astrology, like any sign system, can be read whichever way. Will the new administration bring chaos or restitution for the past? We’ll know soon enough, but for now, I know which candidate speaks more clearly, seriously and effectively to me. Language isn’t everything, but how much worse off are we when we can only communicate at the level of a four-year-old (no offence to four-year-olds)? Do we want him back, even if we could?

“So I analyzed that and decided I didn’t want to be the president during a depression greater than the Great Depression, or the beginning of a depression greater than the Great Depression.”—Washington D.C., Dec. 18, 2008

Don’t misunderestimate me, I’m not saying Obama’s perfect — no one is — but at least he isn’t pretending to be. That’s one step closer to sanity, if you ask me. It’s up to the rest of us to try and keep him there. It’s odd when people assume their work is done once the candidate is elected. The whole point of democracy is the process of accountability . One of the problems with the previous administration is most of those who prided themselves on being the thinking world rolled over and played dead.

[Cross-posted on my other blog.]

The Sun (life force) is currently conjunct Mercury (ideas, communication) and Mars (passion, action, anger) in truth-seeking Sagittarius, trine Vesta in Taurus, prompting me to think and write about what it means to take ownership of what one thinks and writes.
