Merc Rx in Taurus

I’ve had a crazy-intense time these past week, especially around the last Full Moon in Scorpio. Still trying to process it all.

What to say about this retrograde? What can be said?

Greece.

Wall Street.

March on Wall Street.

Dow Jones tech glitch.

Oil rig spill.

Second Icelandic volcanic ash cloud.

UK Election chaos.

Not the 4G.

Take it around with you when Mercury is about to retrograde.

Apparently, one of Apple’s software engineers took a 4G prototype along with him to a beer garden on his birthday and left it behind. What happened next is recounted here.

Ho, ho, ho!

Extracted from an article in The Huffington Post:

An Australian publisher is reprinting 7,000 cookbooks over a recipe for pasta with “salt and freshly ground black people.”

This has to be the Merc rx gaffe to end all gaffes. If it weren’t so disturbing.

A case of Freud? Or iPhone autospell?

Or, as a friend of mine offered: ‘There’s a ghost of Freud in autospell.’

The travel chaos caused by the Icelandic volcano from last week is very much an effect of Mercury retrograde writ large (Lynn Hayes mentions this), as the cardinal t-square intensifies. This is not to say that Mercury retrograde ’caused’ the eruption or the delays, merely that the planetary positions appear to reflect events and experiences on earth.

It is hard to not to be awed by the spectacle of this unprecedented event in modern times. The last time this volcano erupted was in 1822, modern aviation hadn’t yet been invented to be disrupted. Although the disruption is extensive — not just impacting holiday travel, but also business and trade — the lack of hysterical demands for accountability is conspicuous. It’s a worrying situation obviously, but how can one find fault with a volcano that is doing what it does? As this op-ed article from The Observer notes:

… we cannot blame the volcano, only observe how liberating it is sometimes to be powerless before nature.

I have been trying to publish this for the past two days, but either kept getting interrupted or had connection problems — oh well.

Mercury is currently stationed in Taurus and due to retrograde from 17/18 April to 10/11 May 2010 (depending on which time zone you’re in), from 12°38′ to 02°40′ Taurus. And as usual I have slid straight into it.

I lost my car key today (Friday), but as with me and Mercury, it is never just the one instance of loss that makes it a Merc rx moment. For me, a real Merc rx moment has to have an element of cheeky coincidence about it.
