Merc Rx experiences

Mercury retrogrades from 11° 35′ Cancer to 2° 28′ Cancer from 15 June to 9 July 2007. The back-end shadow period lasts from 31 May to 14 June and the front-end shadow period from 10 July to 24 July 2007.

I am as usual discounting the usual glitches and disruptions to do with missed appointments, computer trouble and travel delays. This is a list of events that stood out.

Back-end shadow period, 1 to 14 June 2007:

This last Mercury retrograde is pretty interesting for some of the coincidences it sent up.

On 9 June, I posted an entry about Mercury retrograde and job applications, and how my applications were affected by mistakes and server breakdowns.

As we inch towards the next Mercury retrograde on 15 June, documents from my drafts folder have been sending themselves, or in some cases, earlier versions have been sending themselves alongside later ones.

I’ve been applying for jobs this week. Ideally, I’d like this retrograde to be over with before I sent them off, but it can’t be helped as most of the deadlines are either this or next week. I wonder if employers know that selecting applicants during Mercury retrograde probably isn’t the best time.

Anyway, checking and counter-checking the application forms and my CV proved as time-consuming as cleaning rice by hand — I found a mistake almost every time I looked. In addition, with online applications increasingly becoming the norm these days, I ended up missing a 12 noon deadline because my email server was down for most of the day. When I finally sent it off, I couldn’t send the next one, because the other party’s server was out of service as well!

If anything, the exercise has forced me to go over my CV and revise it quite substantially. It will be interesting to see if I get any calls for interviews this period.

Unbelieveable. I went out to my car this morning and found that the battery was flat. It turns out I had left the radio on overnight. I’d turned it down low when I gave a friend a lift as the reception was bad at that point; didn’t realise it was still on when I got home.

Put it down to the Mercury rx shadow period or my full moon solar return yesterday, with the moon in a conjunct with my natal Neptune in the 12th (foggy and blind!) — we all need something to blame!!

Sigh. Unfortunately, Mercury or not, full moon or not, I’m responsible for my own carelessness. The coincidences are always fun, and infuriating, to point out though.

Usually I am so careful with the details of daily life and work (Sun-Saturn in the 6th) that Mercury retrograde periods seem to release the tension that keeps all my invisible web threads taut, and I am forced to relinquish control. I am forced, if you like, to confront my potential for carelessness, and to relinquish the armour I lug around the rest of the time.
